Biography

Michelle Brooks BA (Hons) is an award-winning London based director, producer, writer and filmmaker known for her darkly comic cross-genre dating docs, "Brides and Prejudice" and "Why Should I Get Married?"

Michelle has been accredited with pitching, writing and developing several documentaries and series, which have been broadcast all over the world with the BBC, UKTV, Sky TV, The Institute of Architecture and Art (New York), and the Mayor of London all among her client list.

Despite initially starting off as a stage actress, Michelle retrained to go behind the camera as a Production Coordinator for BBC (UK), where she worked her way up to be a Creative, a Writer-Director and then a Producer with over fifteen years of experience.

Quirky and imaginative, Michelle enjoys a good story well told and is adept at adding both comedy and jeopardy at the script stage as well as casting creatively and making bold suggestions both before and during the edit to evoke emotion and bring her projects to life.

In recognition of her contribution to the Film and TV Industry, Michelle is now a full BAFTA Member and also part of Women in Film and TV.

Always keen to give back to the industry, Michelle loves to work within the local community in her hometown of Ealing, famous for Ealing Studios and Ealing Comedies. Here Michelle guest lectures in filmmaking in her downtime as well as being on the judging panel of the Ealing Film Festival where she nurtures and pinpoints the Filmmaking talent of the future.
