Biography

Saitabao Kaiyare is a filmmaker from Kenya with a decade of experience in the film industry working both in Africa and Europe. His short films, documentaries, and TV shows have been critically acclaimed across numerous film festivals internationally and won accolades. In 2020, he directed and produced the short documentary 'If Objects Could Speak' which won Best Documentary at the Africa Magic Viewer's Choice Awards 2022, The Ousmane Sembene Prize at the Zanzibar International Film Festival 2021, and Best Short Documentary at the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards 2020. The film has been screened in numerous film festivals across Africa, Europe, and North America.

In 2019, he wrote and directed the satirical short experimental film 'Excuse, pardon my manners!' which won Best Diaspora Production at the Kalasha International Film & TV Awards 2019. The short fiction film has been nominated and screened in multiple international film festivals.

Saitabao is an alumnus of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany and is the co-founder at Baruu Collective, a multi-media production house that re-thinks and re-imagines the African narrative.
