Biography

Kevin Wendell Jones is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. He is an award winning filmmaker, singer, songwriter, musician, and vfx generalist who won international recognition through his work. He started playing flute at age 7 and then transitioned to piano at the tender age of 9. At 12 entered into Johns Hopkins Peabody Conservatory to studio piano and music theory. He attended and graduated from Carver Vocational High School where he majored in Industrial Electronics. At 19 he joined the US Army for a career in communications and in the winter of 1987 he teamed up with some fellow military members and help form the show-band group called Essence. Later that year they won 1st place in the 1st Armored Division Showband Competition in Europe. After honorably leaving the military service 1989 he went into music production and formed Jones Productions, Inc. Within the next 4 years he helped develop other artists who went on to go solo with promising careers. After dissolving his company out of frustration with the industry he left the music industry for the next 10 yrs and took up photography. He went to school at New York Institute of Photography where he developed his skills in black and white, portraits, events and nature. He was awarded Editors Choice Celebrated Photographer Award by the International Library of Photography. In 2004 he returned to his roots of music and wrote and produced 2 albums. The first album was, "From Me, To You" that consisted of an amazing 41 tracks and the following year he released his follow up album, "Bringing Back The Funk". In 2012 he started writing music for a variety of film trailers and scores for indie films. In 2015, he teamed up with Black Rose Dagger Films headed by Tia Cherie Polite and worked as her cinematographer, composer, sound designer and general VFX artist.
