Eric Cashmore

Eric Cashmore is an HIV/AIDS activist in Toronto and Durham Region, Ontario. Since late 2008, he's also advocated for social change in homelessness and mental health status. His passion began after being sexually assaulted in 2007 which resulted in his own HIV status. While living homeless on the streets and addicted to methamphetamine, Eric was busy assisting people with mental health illness navigate their way off the streets. In 2014 Eric traveled across Northern Ontario and told his story in small communities, teaching people about modern HIV/AIDS and about issues around criminalization of the disease. In 2015 Eric was nominated as LGTBQ person of the year in Toronto and Durham (inspire awards). Eric currently (2016) lives in Pickering Ontario and works as the Youth Outreach Coordinator for the AIDS Committee of Durham Region.
