Thomas J. Peters is an award-winning Film & Television composer, hailing from Portland, OR. He discovered his life's passion for playing & writing music from a young age. Choosing his primary instrument, the Trumpet, while being inspired by John Williams' glorious theme for the Star Wars films.
The proceeding years noted his exploration of Jazz music where he gained inspiration from the greats, and performed/toured in jazz ensembles, primarily in the Portland, OR area for nearly a decade as a professional musician, until his re-discovery of music in cinema and the dream of being a Hollywood Film Composer took flight.
In 2014, Thomas J. Peters moved to Los Angeles to pursue being a composer for Film & Television, where he composed for several independent films while working numerous part time jobs in the city. His work ranged from debut drama "The Limit", an NYU Tisch Student Film, to an animated short 'Two Worlds', created by 3D artist & director Andy Lefton. Thomas continued working within the indie film scene until he encountered a chance meeting online with whom would become a long time collaborator, director Molly Ratermann. His quirky Sundance-inspired original score for her comedy short 'Suicide' (2016), would be nominated for 'Best Music' at the Top Indie Film Awards. Though, he didn't win, it would lead to numerous further collaborations with Molly Ratermann including her films - "Lizzie Lost" (2017) and later on a TV spot "Love Chum" (2021), and he additionally met another longtime collaborator, Cassidy Davis at a film festival in which Suicide screened - the Studio City Film Festival, where later he would go on to create a memorable theme song and all of the score for web series "Adulting" for two seasons (2017 & 2019).
Soon after, he'd meet director Aaron Garrett and compose an experimental ambient score for his first feature film - "False Flag", which saw it's distribution and release in 2018.
Throughout the late 2010s, Thomas continued to compose the music for numerous independent filmmakers in the Los Angeles area, until in 2019, when he met another repeat collaborator, Ramone Menon, who would propel his career further and help him become a bigger name in the horror scene. Their collaboration for the film, "Once Upon a Time in a Haunted House", won "Best Horror" at the LA Shorts International Film Festival in 2019, and then went on to win "Best Score in a Short Film" at the Filmquest Film Festival in 2022. Thomas continued his collaboration with Ramone Menon, with his music for "The Pey" (2021), an electronically driven film score, where the project won several awards at Filmquest for "Unique Concept & Execution", at Atlanta Film Festival for "Best Monster Short" and at the Renegade Film Festival, in which it won for "Best Blockbuster Night Film" & "Best Editing". Thomas additionally met two of his closest collaborators and friends at the 2019 LA Shorts Festival in Sydne Horton and Steven Markowitz, both of whom he composed scores for with "Meta" (2020), and Steven Markowitz's upcoming "The Grand Inquisitor or G~d Appears in my Closet" (2022)

He additionally writes music for video games, with three upcoming releases on Steam - Numina, Absolute Tactics: Daughters of Mercy, and Witch. He resides in Los Angeles, CA, where his studio is located.
