Biography

Gemma Pascual

Mini bio

  • Gemma Pascual was born in Barcelona in 1982. In 2004 she completed a degree in Film and Media Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Shortly after finishing her course, she left for the United Kingdom, where she worked in distribution at Dogwoof Pictures; as a sales and marketing assistant and PA at High Point Media Group; and as a producers' assistant at Missing in Action Films. In London, Gemma also obtained a Master's Degree in Screenwriting and Producing for Film and Television from the University of Westminster. The course had several subjects related to script and project development, which became her passion and profession.

In 2008 Gemma moved back to Spain and worked as Head of Development at Factotum Barcelona. The following year, she left the country again, this time settling in Auckland, New Zealand, where she worked as Head of Development for the company Desert Road, taking to the small screen the mini-series "Harry". She also worked as a storyliner for the daily soap opera "Shortland Street" (South Pacific Pictures), as a freelancer on various film and TV projects and as a script analyst for the New Zealand's Writers' Guild.

In 2014 Gemma went back to her home town of Barcelona to undertake different roles, always in the film and television industry, for example, as Head of Development for the company Distinto Films or as a Script Coordinator for the Spanish-Chinese animated television series "Emmy and GooRoo" (Tomavistas and LeftPocket). In June 2017 Gemma was hired as Head of Development at Filmax, where she is currently overseeing the company's feature film slate.
