Paul Mayora

Biography

Paul Mayora

Biography

  • Paul Daniel Mayora grew up in the vibrant multicultural hub of Cabramatta West in Sydney, Australia, during the late 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. His parents, hailing from Uruguay, deeply influenced his creative journey with their love for the arts, music, and films. At just 14, Paul began working in audio production for his sister's Latin band, sparking a passion for storytelling through sound and visuals that would define his career.

Paul pursued his love for film and television by undertaking formal training in audio, film, and television production, earning a Diploma in Camera from the Australian Film Television and Radio School in 2018. With over 15 years of diverse experience, Paul has carved out a career as a director, writer, DOP, and editor.

His first short film as DOP and editor, A Family Reunion, was an experimental project that inspired him to make his directorial debut with Devil's Whisper. The film earned critical acclaim, including Best Director at the Dream Machine Festival in Los Angeles (2020), and numerous other awards for Best Short Film and Best Lead Actor.

An emerging member of the Australian Writers Guild (AWG) and associate member of the Australian Directors Guild (ADG), Paul continues to push creative boundaries. In 2021, he wrote the screenplay for The Red Gallery, a commercial thriller.

In 2024, Paul worked as DOP on Leech (sci-fi), Yatsi Secret (dark humour), and Sirius (documentary). He also served as a camera operator and gaffer on The Lost Generation, all projects set for the 2025 festival circuit.

Paul is currently developing several passion projects, including Brush of Death (a web series), The Case of Pasqual (a psychological thriller feature), The Writer (a paranormal drama), Moonlight (a cyberpunk crime thriller), and Cheese Death Lullaby (a gay romantic comedy).

Through his Sydney-based production company, Fingerprint Philms, Paul strives to create emotionally immersive experiences using bold visual storytelling. He describes filmmaking as an art form, likening the camera to a paintbrush and the scene to a canvas.

Paul's ultimate goal is to build a fulfilling career in the film industry, crafting compelling visual stories while forming lasting collaborations with creatives around the world. While directing remains his primary focus, Paul also balances his skills in writing and cinematography to produce meaningful narratives that resonate deeply with audiences.

Committed to the future of the industry, Paul aspires to mentor and inspire the next generation of filmmakers. For him, storytelling is not just about art; it's about creating a legacy of passion and innovation that transcends time.
