Avinash "Avi" Vasu is a filmmaker, writer, director, producer, and entrepreneur known for his distinctive storytelling style and multifaceted approach to art and media. With over a decade of experience in Bollywood and global cinema, Avi has carved a unique space in the film industry, with his works often premiering at prestigious festivals, including seven appearances at the Cannes Film Festival and accolades such as the Audience Choice Award at a New York film festival. His passion for storytelling extends beyond traditional cinema, encompassing short films, literature, and innovative design projects.

Born and raised in India, Avi's academic journey led him to Flame University,India, where he majored in Filmmaking with a minor in Psychology, graduating as the Gold Medalist in Filmmaking. While still in college, he directed and produced over 30 films under his first production house, Rubix Cube Media. In 2013, he founded Erango Media, a creative powerhouse with operations in India and Canada that has produced award-winning films, designed marketing strategies, published books, and fostered cultural connections.

Avi is also an advocate for short films. He founded The Short Film International Academy (THESFIA) and Shortrrmag, platforms dedicated to elevating the art of short films and supporting emerging filmmakers. In 2021, he attended the 93rd Academy Awards with Erango Media to cover the short film categories, conducting interviews and offering in-depth analyses that brought attention to the often-overlooked genre.

Fluent in multiple languages, including English, French, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, and even the fictional Parseltongue, Avi's films reflect his global perspective and deep cultural understanding. His unique vision often incorporates the color orange, a motif that symbolizes his creative identity and even inspired the name Erango Media-an anagram of the word "orange."

Based in Vancouver, Canada, Avi works alongside his wife, Rubhani, on building ShopDesi, an e-commerce platform celebrating Indian arts, culture, and cuisine in North America. Beyond filmmaking, Avi's diverse talents include writing software, photography, music, drone flying, and game design. A true polymath, he seamlessly blends the worlds of art and science in his work.
