Moved from Lancashire England to Australia in the early 1950s and settled with her husband at Woody Point north of Brisbane. She started writing when briefly bed-ridden due to a slipped disc then became more serious about it when she joined a Brisbane radio group in 1956. Her original efforts were short stories, sketches and children's plays. She received attention for her "The Pub at Pelican Creek" which was commended in the 1950 General Motors Theatre Awards. In the 1960s three of her scripts were filmed for TV and also adapted for radio. She wrote a number of other radio plays for the ABC.
