Biography

Alex Kahuam is an award-winning director, producer, and writer based in Los Angeles, California. His work has been showcased at prestigious film festivals globally, including A-list festivals such as Cannes, SXSW, Tallinn Black Nights, and SITGES, as well as FICG-Guadalajara, FrightFest, Morbido and many others

He is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed film Failure!, starring Ted Raimi. It was shot entirely in a single take (87 minutes), making him the first Mexican director in the history of cinema to accomplish a feature film with no cuts in the United States and one of the few directors globally to have successfully achieved this. The film was released in January 28th, 2025.

Kahuam's psychological supernatural horror film "The Remedy" had its world premiere at the prestigious SXSW London in June 3rd, 2026. The film stars: Timothy Granaderos (13 Reasons Why?), London Thor (Gen V), Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Chris Mulkey (Whiplash) and Jenny O'Hara (Devil).

In Feb 2026 Kahuam wrapped his new upcoming slasher horror film "House Of Holloway , starring: Laura Marano (The Perfect Date), Doug Jones (The Shape Of Water), Bonnie Aarons (The Nun), Orlando Piñeda (Griselda).

Other notable works he has are his third feature film Forgiveness (FrightFest World Premiere + 21 more selections), which had world-wide distribution in 50 territories theatrically and/or on VOD and the short film Red Light (Sitges World Premiere + 70 more selections), starring Ted Raimi.

His style has caught the attention of many film festivals, critics, and audiences around the world for the use of long takes and the tension that he builds in his films.
