Biography

Davide Abbatescianni (Bari, 16 September 1991) is a journalist and film critic based in Rome. He works as an International Reporter for the EU-funded portal Cineuropa, covering of European film with daily news, interviews, reports and reviews of new releases.

His bylines appeared on other international outlets such as Variety, New Scientist, Al Jazeera English, The National, The New Arab, POV Magazine, Reader's Digest UK, BusinessDocEurope, the Independent Cinema Office's blog, the Nordisk Film and TV Fond website, the Europa Distribution's blog and Film Ireland.

He regularly covers the major markets and festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, Tallinn, Locarno, IDFA, MIA, Rotterdam, Sundance, CPH:DOX and many others.

As of 2024, he is a programmer for the Torino Film Festival, one of Italy's largest cinematic gatherings.

He is also a film curator for the project Support to EU Film Festivals, whose primary mission is to enhance the quality of festivals organized by the delegations of the European Union worldwide.

He is a member of the European Film Academy, FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics), ICS (International Cinephile Society) and FEDEORA (Federation of Film Critics of Europe and the Mediterranean).
