Biography

Sonia Rathee is an Indian-American actress, dancer, and performer best known for starring opposite Sidharth Shukla in the hit romantic drama series Broken But Beautiful Season 3 (2021), Netflix’s Decoupled (2021) alongside R. Madhavan, and the Netflix feature film Tara vs Bilal (2022), produced by John Abraham. Her recent work includes the horror-comedy Kapkappi (2025), Amazon Prime feature Night Encounters, and the upcoming film Bhai Bhai.

Raised in San Diego, California, Sonia graduated from Boston University before moving to New York City, where she trained extensively in acting, including under renowned acting coach Alice Spivak in the Stanislavski technique. She also studied with Grace Kiley, trained in improvisation at The PIT, and performed in theater productions including Bhangin’ It at Lincoln Center and The Little Princess at Signature Theatre.

A lifelong dancer, Sonia has trained in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Bollywood, ballet, jazz, and hip hop, eventually founding her own dance company in New York. Her movement background continues to shape her work as an actor, bringing a strong physicality and emotional instinct to her performances across drama, comedy, romance, and genre films.

Fluent in English, Hindi, and Haryanvi, Sonia works between Mumbai, Los Angeles, and New York City.
