  • Barry Joseph Germansky is a playwright, screenwriter, director, and producer. He was born on August 13, 1991 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 2013, he graduated summa cum laude from York University with an honours BA in humanities. Upon graduation, he was awarded the prestigious 25th Anniversary Book Prize for the humanities student graduating with the highest grade point average. Later, at the same university, he earned a master's degree in humanities and a master's degree in English.

    Since 2014, he has worked as a writer, producer, or director on numerous films. A passionate cinephile, Germansky has helped establish many networks around the world for the production, distribution, and exhibition of films. He has served as the features programmer for Toronto's Pendance Film Festival since 2018. The festival has taken place at such renowned venues as the TIFF Bell Lightbox and the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario).

    In 2019, Germansky produced Forced Change, a feature-length documentary on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, for Emmy-nominated filmmaker Rennik Soholt.

    In 2021, Germansky executive produced As They Made Us, Mayim Bialik's feature-film debut as a writer-director. The film's cast includes Dustin Hoffman, Candice Bergen, Dianna Agron, and Simon Helberg.

    In addition to his film work, Germansky is a prolific playwright. His plays have been produced Off-Off-Broadway and in cities across North America.
