Mineo Maya is known for Fly Me to the Saitama (2019), Patalliro! (2019) and Patalliro Saiyuki (2005).

In public he wears dark suits and dark glasses.

He cites the works of 19th century artist Aubrey Beardsley, and manga creators Takao Saitô (espionage), Shigeru Mizuki (fantasy) and romance manga writers Moto Hagio and Riyoko Ikeda as an influence on his work.

He has claimed that his son bears a distinct resemblance to Patalliro.

His favorite character that he created is Maraich Juschenfe.

His wife Yoshimi Yamada and daughter Marie Yamada are ballerinas.

His daughter Marie made her debut as a manga artist in 2017.
