Kier Atherton

Kier began his career with a chainsaw in the forests of the Kootenai National Forest. After too many years clearing trails for mostly animals and a few tourists he embarked on making his debut film Love Like Gold. These days he only gets the saw out on weekends to gather firewood and makes a living as a cinematographer in NW Montana. His comedy feature film Out to Pasture is being released in 2024. He has also filmed on a range of award winning films screening at Sundance, Tiff, IDFA, Hot Docs, and many more. He is a DP on the 2024 feature doc Bring Them Home and in 2021 he DP'ed the 2021 Reed Award winning Best Online Presidential Ad with "Hunter for Biden". Kier has also filmed with Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek on Buster's Mal Heart and for TV shows including 60 Minutes+, HBO's Real Sports, 20/20 and Discovery Daily Planet. Upcoming projects as DP include the sci-fi comedy feature Encounters
