Biography

Jonathan Mendonça is a director, executive producer, writer and editor. He studied Filmmaking at the Latin American Film Institute, Film and TV Production at the Universidade Metodista de São Paulo, and Screenwriting for Film and TV at Roteiraria, in addition to independent courses in post-production and editing. As a director, he directed the web series "Romeu & Romeu" (2016/2017), for which he was nominated for Best Director at Rio Webfest twice and won awards for 'Best Diversity Series' and 'Best Brazilian Series'. He created and directed two seasons of the web series "Manu" (2019/2020), which competed in festivals in Brazil, Italy, and Germany, as well as the short films "Finito" (2012) and "Tira-Manchas" (2018), both accepted into the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Festival in their respective years. He also directed the TV musical special "Nasi: Egbe" (2015) for Canal Brasil and the reality show "Nunca Desista" (2017/2018) for Esporte Interativo channel. He has extensive experience in directing branded content for the internet, creating campaigns for brands such as Calvin Klein, Avon, Mustang and Meta through his production company, Substrato Filmes. He also works in Brazilian film industry as a First Assistant Director, being part of the films "Black & White" (2016, Reticom Filmes), "No Outro Encontro Você" (2022, Bushatsky Filmes), and "Domingo à Noite" (2023, Valenza Filmes).
