Biography

Shigeki Maegawa is a Japanese actor, director, producer, writer, and Youtuber. He was raised in NJ, USA in his childhood for a total of 10 years, therefore speaks English and Japanese fluently. After majoring law at Keio University, he started pursuing a career as an actor at the age of 26. He learned acting in Japan at acting schools like English Language Film School, and also by attending many workshops held by not only casting director Keiichi Anda and Yōko Narahashi, but also the ones inviting teachers from the US; such as Scott Trost and Bernardo Hiller to name a few. He also learned action and Japanese theatrical sword fighting at Japan Action Club (JAC), having Shin'ichi Chiba as his master sensei, and Shigeki is now the top instructor there. One of his signature performances among many appearances in Japanese TV programs, commercials and films, is said to have been the leading role: Ronin in Samurai Opera (2013), which shows not only his profound compelling acting skills, but his ability to sing and perform sword fighting, leaving a charismatic impression to the viewers. He produced, wrote, staged and performed a mono-drama; short film called Wish for You (2020) which received many awards at film festivals in and out of Japan.
