  • Meera Angelica Joshi is a filmmaker based in San Francisco. Born and raised in the Antipodes, she moved to the US to study Film and Television at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Meera is a recipient of the 2025/2026 SFFILM Rainin Grant for her debut feature "Ancestor" based on the true ghost story that haunted her family. She was a 2025 filmmaker in residence at SFFILM for her short film "The Sale", which was the winner of the Netflix-backed Tasveer Film Fund.

    As a director, she is interested in stories that center around women pushing against expectation while investigating intergenerational connection. Meera is a 2026 Shondaland Director Mentorship finalist and was described by Head of Creative Production, Tom Vericka as part of "the next generation of visionary directors." Her work has aired on Australian TV, been featured in the New York Times and has screened at festivals worldwide.
