Bonifacio Gurule is an actor who has been focusing on acting in movies & television since 1998, but his stage presence goes all the way back to Third Grade. His lifetime as a performance artist has spanned speaking on stage in Ministry School, singing at the age of 19 to a Rose Bowl crowd of 127,500 people, playing bass & singing in rock & roll bands, & has led him to his roles on-screen. He first appeared in the John Carpenter film "Ghost of Mars", & has now been building his career for over 25 years.
One fun highlight was during his work on the filming of Adam's Sandler's "The Ridiculous 6" in New Mexico. While there were a lot of opinions about some of the themes, Bonifacio's take "...chill out, it's a comedy, not a documentary!" aired locally on Channel 7 & was even picked up & quoted by Rolling Stone magazine.
Bonifacio studied Dramatic Acting & has been highly sought-after to bring important Native American roles to life off the page. He has appeared in A&E/Netlfix's "Longmire", but frequently is entrusted with honestly portraying the sacred roles of Shamnan, Elder, or Warrior Chief. Bonifacio even appeared as himself in "Maktoub", a 2024 release that won "Best Film By Women" from the Tarzana International Film Festival. The film was shot in part at Bonifacio's home, which contributed to it also winning Best Production Design at the 2024 Santa Fe Film Festival.
In 2015 he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a terminal bone cancer that he has endured & beaten all the odds with his invincible will to live. This journey with terminal illness has only further emboldened him to fearlessly embrace his dream as he pursues acting & regularly bears his soul in his roles.
He's incredibly proud of his Native American heritage & lives on beautiful acreage overlooking the Rio Grande river & the mountains of Albuquerque. He raises peacocks & is currently living with five adult male peacocks, seven adult females, and three babies. Plus five cats!
Whether his days are spent on his land, with the creatures he shares it with, or on set as he brings another character to life, Bonifacio believes that every day being alive is a pure gift, & he loves to share that joy through his artistic gifts as a performer, musician, & actor.
