Ali El Mejboud is a Moroccan director and screenwriter whose work challenges societal norms with bold storytelling, psychological intensity, and cinematic precision. His stories explore the contradictions of contemporary Morocco, through characters navigating violence, hope, rebellion, and survival.

Ali rose to national fame with Une Heure En Enfer, a six-season cult television series that became a landmark in Moroccan TV history. Gritty, provocative, and unfiltered, the series captured the struggles of the marginalized and gave voice to the silenced.

In 2016, he wrote and directed Dallas, a dark comedy that follows a desperate filmmaker who decides to finish his movie using the real corpse of his deceased lead actor. Mixing absurd humor with a scathing critique of the film industry, Dallas became a box-office number one hit in Morocco, praised for its originality and daring tone. It was also selected at the Francophone Cultural Festival in Washington D.C.

His recent series Rahma (2025) quickly rose to number one on the streaming platform Shahid, thanks to its gripping exploration of domestic trauma, vengeance, and female empowerment. Casa Street, a raw and intense urban thriller, also met great success on Shahid, solidifying Ali's place as a leading voice in North African storytelling.
