He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and received his MFA in Film Production from Florida State University and BFA degrees in Philosophy and French from the University of Notre Dame.
Before moving to Los Angeles, he lived in China and now speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.
He is a member of the International Cinematographer's Guild. In addition to his film and television credits, he has worked with the American Society of Cinematographers as a regular crew member for their international master classes.
