Biography

Mayson Sonntag is an NYC based actor, musician, singer, and dancer. He is known for the role of "Dad" on the 1st National tour "Cocomelon Live! JJ's Journey" as well as appearing as leading roles in Running By and YourOwn. An AFM member, and plays viola, violin, piano, and guitar. Having graduated from Ithaca College in May '22, Mayson has appeared on both the stage and screen, and has performed in several acclaimed short films. He is passionate about collaborating with artists of a variety of different backgrounds to tell new, unique stories.

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Mayson grew up surrounded by art. Beginning violin lessons at the age of 3, he eventually picked up several other instruments, and a love for composition.

Mayson's first performance came at age 7, when he was asked to play a gargoyle in a local dance company's production of Sleeping Beauty. He would spend the next 10 years performing with amateur and professional theatre companies, as well as acting in his first short film Running By, before deciding to pursue acting professionally,

Mayson also performed professionally as a violist, performing for 2 years with the Regina Symphony orchestra, and for 8 years with the Fiearro Quartet (1st Place Chamber Group, 2018 National Music Festival).

After several acclaimed productions at Ithaca College and local professional theaters, working with notable collaborators such as Douglas Llyons, Zhailon Levingston, and Michael Mott, as well as performing in numerous shorts, Mayson graduated from Ithaca College, and moved to New York City, where he works professionally.
