Biography

Katharina Voss (born 22 September 1987), is a German actress and graduate of the Intensive program at Vancouver Acting School (VAS).

Voss was born and raised in Luxembourg and is the older of two siblings. Growing up, Voss was always interested in all forms of arts and could always be found either drawing, reading or writing in her spare time. Heavily inspired by Japanese animation and TV-Shows like "Sailor Moon", "The Nanny", "Will and Grace", "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and "Xena: Warrior Princess", she started acting out her favorite scenarios in private with friends. Having always been fascinated by acting but being too shy to participate in her schools Drama Club, Voss instead immersed herself extensively in Literature and Art Studies during her last two years of high-school.

Giving in to family expectations, Voss chose to pursue an academic language career instead of art. She attended the School of Oriental and African Studies, which is part of the University of London, from 2007 until 2011 and graduated with a Bachelor in Japanese Studies.

Having had no previous acting knowledge, Voss decided to pursue a career in acting and moved all by herself to Canada to pursue her dream at the Vancouver Acting School, where she was taught and trained by teachers the like of Catherine Lough Haggquist, David Milchard, Jill Morrison, Geoff Gustafson, Peter Benson, Adrian Petriw and Maryke Hendrikse. After graduating from Vancouver Acting School in 2013, she went on to train for a while with actress and teacher Lori Ann Triolo, specializing in Meisner Technique and Fitzmaurice Voicework. Voss also temporarily trained with Improvisation teacher Veena Sood. Voss sees acting, just like any other form of art and creative outlet, as a way to analyze, interpret and cope with the world around her. "I want my art to touch people, to be a medium of communication, to teach them, educate them, and help them when they need help. I want people to feel something when they take in my art; it should be cathartic," Voss says. She comments further that "TV, writing, music, stories, helped me get through the roughest patches of my life. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, there are a lot of people that have helped and encouraged me with their words and actions, their passion and art and who they are as a person. These people are my inspirations. I just want to give back. I want to help other people who are going through something bad. I want to connect with them and tell them 'Hey, it's OK, you're not alone!'"

Voss speaks five different languages and immerses herself on a regular basis in different fandoms.
