Biography

Philippe Streiff was born on June 26, 1955 in La Tronche, Isère, France. He died on December 23, 2022 in Puteaux, Haut-de-Seine, France.

Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for: Renault (1984 (1 GP)), Ligier (1985 (4 GPs)), Tyrrell (1985 (1 GP)-1986 (16 GPs)-1987 (16 GPs)) and AGS (1988 (15 GPs)). He started 53 Grands Prix, 1 Podium and 11 Points. Best ranked in the World Championship: 14th in 1986.

Teammates in Formula One were: Patrick Tambay, Derek Warwick, Jacques Laffite, Martin Brundle and Jonathan Palmer.

Champion: French Formula 3 (1981).

His only career podium almost didn't happen due to a driving error by Philippe Streiff at the 1985 Australian Grand Prix. Before starting the final lap, Streiff collided with his Ligier teammate Jacques Laffite in the battle for 2nd place. As a result of the contact, Streiff's left front axle was severely damaged. Despite the damage, Laffite finished 2nd, while Streiff struggled to bring his car to the finish line with a broken left front suspension, securing 3rd place.
