Biography

Daniel Charles "Dan" Gruchy (also called Dan The Man, #DanTheMan, or simply Dan) is a British Internet and YouTube personality, soldier and part of The Slow Mo Guys team along with his good friend Gavin Free, he posts videos of everything and anything that may look cool in slow motion for his more than 7 million subscribers. The Slow Mo Guys was later adopted by Rooster Teeth.

Daniel was born on July 27, 1988 in Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire, England and raised in Thame, Oxfordshire, England. He was potty trained in 1990, at the ago of two, and he said his very first swear word in 1994 at the age of six. He made his first web browse on the internet in 2000. In September 2002, he attended Lord William's School, the same secondary school together as Gavin Free did. However, despite sharing a soft spot for the slow-moving, the two classmates didn't become close friends until they began working at the same branch of Waitrose (supermarket) in Oxfordshire after leaving high school and met each other. Later, he grew bum fluff in 2005 and learned what 'Pap Smear' was 2008. He became a Lance Corporal in the British army after leaving high school whilst helping Gavin film slow motion videos and content for their YouTube channel, releasing their first video on October 15, 2010. He also joined Twitter on January 17, 2012 at 1:57 PM. He and Gavin had their channel and series officially picked up and adopted by Rooster Teeth on February 20, 2013, and that further future episodes would be released on the Rooster Teeth website and RT's YouTube channel.

At present he lives in England (mainly Thame) and is nearing the end of his military service as a Lance Corporal in the British Army, finishing his serving in the Royal Logistic Corps. Recently, The Slow Mo Guys has become a part of Rooster Teeth in February 2013. Before fame, He and Gavin created The Slow Mo Guys and posted their first video in late 2010.

Dan has appeared in multiple videos and content on the Rooster Teeth channel and on the RT website while occasionally visiting Gavin in Austin, Texas to film more videos for the Slow mo Guys during his military career, such as On The Spot and he has made a cameo on the Rooster Teeth Podcast. He has made an appearance in Rooster Teeth Animated Adventures, and has had pixel art created of him in Achievement City. He also appeared in three Let's Play episodes of Achievement Hunter so far: "The Grand Heist" and "Let's Play/Fail - Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2". His popular smashing of a watermelon slow motion video was featured on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

At the Slow Mo Guys panel at RTX 2013 (was held on July 5, 6, and 7 at the Austin Convention Center) which has hosted by both Free and Gruchy, Dan talked about considering moving to Austin, Texas in American in order to work for Rooster Teeth full time, star in more Rooster Teeth videos and shows as well as producing more content for his and Gavin's YouTube channel once his involvement with the army is through. Two months later, at the Slow Mo Guys panel at RTX 2016 (held July 1-3, 2016 at the Austin Convention Center), once again hosted by Gavin and Dan, he officially announced and confirmed he was in the process of doing so as he only had one more year left to serve, and if all goes well as planned, he should be joining to work full time at Rooster Teeth and reside in Austin by the spring of 2017.
