- Carl has a stellar record as a Broadway producer prior to picking up film producing also. He has won 14 Tony awards with many lauded shows, including Spring Awakening, War Horse, Angels in America, Dear Evan Hansen and Hadestown. Carl has invested , co-produced or lead produced over 160 shows, of which 60% turned a profit, defying industry standards.
He is focused on telling stories which have meaningful impacts on audiences, resonating with their emotions. He turned his attention to film next and has worked with Bryan Cranston on Wakefield, Mercedes Ruehl on The Nana Project, Guy Pearce and Jared Harris on The Price of Peace, Ian McKellen on Frank and Percy and many other very accomplished actors.
He intends to divide his time between theater and film going forward, while interspersing TV also.
Carl previously had a business background with an MBA from the University of Chicago and investment banking/consulting roles at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and and Chemical Bank. He had studied classical piano and voice from an early age and the desire to return to more creative opportunities steered him to the arts.
Being a good producer requires both analytical business decisions and creative acumen and Carl incorporates both into productions he chooses.
