  • Philip Williamson Jr. is a Newscast Director/Technical Director at WDSU, also a Director and Producer at the Colored Section. The Colored Section is a Creative Agency and Independent Film Production Company based in New Orleans, founded in October 2004, specializing in creating cool concepts and advertisements for local New Orleans businesses. Moving to the U.S. from the Bahamas at the age of 8, he quickly found a home in media throughout middle, high school, and majoring in Television Broadcast. Once moving to New Orleans in 2012, he formed an alliance with The Colored Section Creator Jonathan Isaac Jackson, to continue in the excellence of Creative Directing.

    He has been apart of many creative pieces including Producing "Navigate Her: An Intergenerational Conversation Among African-American Women in New Orleans," which played in the historic Joy Theater in New Orleans. As well as The Illumination of Invisible Men, a documentary detailing the effects of the cutting of Louisiana's Young Adult Program, a program that helps teenagers from foster homes transition to young adulthood. "Neon Love In Pastel Colors" made its premiere at Cannes Film Festival's Short Corner and was an Official Selection of The New Orleans Film Festival 2014. "Greenlight" was an Official Selection of The New Orleans Film Festival 2015 and placed third in the Annual PBS Online Film Festival held in 2016. To conclude, he was selected to be apart of New Orleans Film Festival 2016, with his directed piece, "After Claudetteia." It is a short documentary centered on life of queer students and teachers in the Monroe City School system after the 2015 incident where Claudetteia Love, an openly queer student, made nationwide headlines for challenging a discriminatory school policy that barred her from wearing a tuxedo to prom.
