Debajit Gayan is a leading sound designer and mixer from Northeast India, celebrated for his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema, especially in audiography. A graduate of the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute in sound engineering, he has emerged as one of the most respected sound professionals in the region.
He received national recognition with the 67th National Film Award for Best Audiography (Location Sync Sound) for the film "Iewduh". At the state and regional levels, he has won the Piyush Kranti Roy Best Audiography Award three times at the Assam State Film Awards and the Sailadhar Baruah Film Award three times as Best sound design.
His work on "Eikhoigi Yum" earned him the Best Sound Design Award at the 14th Manipur State Film Award 2022, and he also received the Sher Choudhury Excellence Award 2022 for his continued contribution to sound in cinema.He won three Prag Cine Awards for Best Sound Design. Most recently, he won Best Sound Design for the film "Baghjan" at the Second North East Film Festival, Imphal.
Known for his innovation, precision, and creative depth, Debajit Gayan continues to shape the soundscape of Northeast Indian cinema with dedication and artistry.
