Tai Brown is a 1st generation American. Both of her parents immigrated to the United States from Jamaica and are of African descent. She grew up in a bilingual home speaking English and Patois.

She returned to Florence, Italy after graduation. While living abroad, she became an au pair for the former bankers of The Medici Family.

Tai Brown is the Founder and CEO of Jan 22 Productions (EST. Jan. 2022), an entertainment production company amplifying Black women storytelling. There is a focus in centering monoracial, medium to dark skinned Black women with natural tightly coiled hair in film and TV.

Although Tai Brown's maternal and paternal family is from and have lived in Jamaica for at least 3 generations before her American born birth and upbringing, DNA testing has confirmed that she has a mixed ancestry of Nigerian, Angolan, Congolese, Ghanaian, Liberian, Sierra Leonean, British, English, Scottish, Icelandic, Irish, Nordic, Latvian, Ashkenazi Jewish, Western Asian, North African, Senegambia, Guinean, African Diaspora, and Caribbean.

Tai became engaged to stand-up comedian Bryan Burris on February 15th, 2025 in Pismo Beach, California. They have been a couple since 2019.

Tai Brown is an American from the Bronx, New York City. She was born and raised in the South Bronx, attending public schools and free arts programs until her talents and academic excellence gave her access to the top New York private arts high school & university experience.

She moved to Los Angeles from NYC in November, 2013 with only $1000 that she was gifted from an ex, driving cross country with another young woman she met on a Google group. They couch surfed with strangers, once in LA, Tai found a studio in Miracle Mile, that had no sink for dishes. She had no connections in the industry and started from scratch, brick by brick.

Tai Brown is very connected to her ancestral roots as a direct descendant of the 1st humans to ever exist, Black women. As a Black Jamaican-American woman, she is a part of the 1st Indigenous people, the Original people, Black African human beings.
