Biography

Alex Winkler is an award-winning film composer, songwriter and music producer based in Los Angeles. Alex got his start as an eclectic pianist/recording artist in all genres, from classical to pop/jazz before moving to LA in 2017 to attend the USC masters in Screen Scoring. Since graduating, he has scored a number of feature films, dozens of short films, commercials and streaming TV content.

Recent scores include "Molli And Max In the Future" which premiered at SXSW 2023, the Korean-horror feature "Dawning" (2022), the feature-length musical dramedy "The Girl Who Left Home" (2021). Alex has also scored episodes from Hulu's anthology series "Bite Size Halloween" (Season 1 & 2), as well as the horror shorts from director Julian Terry: The Nurse (New Line Cinema), Whisper (Amblin), They Hear It (Legendary), and Don't Peek (Bekmambetov).

In addition to his work as a film composer, Alex works as a songwriter and producer with the songwriting duo Kathulu Lemon which has inspired a number of music videos (dir. Lizz Marshall). Alex has also been featured as a pianist on albums like the jazz fusion band Glenious Inner Planet.

Alex has been recognized by ASCAP as one of their "Composers to Watch," and his score for "What Daphne Saw" received the Best Score award from Horrible Imaginings Film Festival.
