Samantha Aldana is a Belizean-American director and writer based in Los Angeles. Her debut feature, Shapeless, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was supported by The Gotham.
Her upcoming feature has received international recognition, including the Belize Film Commissioner’s Emerging Storyteller Feature Film Award and the WomenInFan Pitch Award at the Sitges Film Festival. The project was a Breaking Through the Lens finalist and has been developed through programs including the Berlinale Talents, Tribeca Film Institute, NALIP Media Accelerator, and the Emerging Voices Program.
For television, she directed Angels for Hulu and Disney+’s Bite Size Halloween, which won Best Supernatural Horror Film at Fear Fest and the Audience Award at Dark Bridges Film Festival, and screened at over a dozen festivals worldwide. She is an alumna of the Warner Bros. Directors Access Program and NBC’s Female Forward Program.
Her short films, including The Melancholy Man, These Wild Things, Si, and Porcelain, have received honors including Best Narrative Film in the Audience Awards Women’s Film Challenge and the Best Director Award at the NYC Damn! Film Series. Si received Best Short Film and Best Cinematography at the International KIDS FIRST! Film Festival, while Porcelain received the Jury Award at the Boston Film Festival.
