Biography

Albert 'The Ghost' Esquilin

Biography

  • Fresh off a tour with the European contingent of his international team The Eternalz, Albert "The Ghost" Esquilin is a pioneer of Bruk Up- a dance style originating from Kingston, Jamaica and invented by George Adams.

Despite battling a crushing injury to his leg as a child, Ghost turned his handicap into a mastery of strength and balance which would lead to his fame. As Bruk Up spread throughout NYC's Caribbean neighborhoods like Flatbush and Bed-Stuy, Ghost and his crew- the Bed Stuy Veterans adopted the dance and furthered its traditional roots incorporating elements of body popping, hip hop and dance hall.

Through Bruk Up Ghost channeled elements of his broken inner self, the pain that he has experienced both physically and mentally and transformed it into something effortless and beautiful.

Ghost's artistry has brought him global acclaim with appearances at Harlem's world famous Apollo theater, as a central part of Elton John's Farewell tour, through a starring role in The Lords Of BSV documentary and as the subject of articles in Vice Magazine, The New Yorker and The New York Times.

SUN is the first ever film to use Ghost's art form as part of a fictional narrative.

The purity of Ghost's art and its emphasis on connecting with and healing one's own inner self have gained him a large nationwide and international following of team members and students who are excited to see SUN and to discover what is next for The Ghost Of New York.
