Biography

Edward James Smith is a freelance filmmaker, scriptwriter, composer & owner of Pictured Visions. Originally from Lancashire, UK, Edward has been very drawn to the creative arts since a very young age finding his creativity at first through drawing. At the age of 10, this took a turn after watching the first 3 Indiana Jones films; it was from this moment onward that he decided he wanted to become a filmmaker, making several amateur productions with friends and relatives.

At the age of 16, he began studying film & television production at School for the Arts at Wigan & Leigh College. Upon graduating in 2011 he pursued the further study of filmmaking & visual effects at HND level in Leicestershire. During his HND 1st year, he made his first student short film "Bluebottle" in collaboration with other film students & actors from the performing arts department. The short was filmed on a Canon 550d DSLR.

In 2013, he set out with a vision to create his own passionate, underground feature film "Vigilante Style" with next-to-no budget in Leicester along with his close friend Joseph Khachik (an actor/performer he met during his time at university) and other creatives via studies & networking. The production was eventually completed in 2018, the final two years of production being in Lancashire.

Outside of his own work, Edward has collaborated with other filmmakers in the UK, providing work as an extra & camera operator and is always willing to provide his services in the creative sector wherever he can.
