Mully (2015)
Charles Mully is an embodiment of selflessness. His own life story personifies courage and humility, and embraces the unshakeable belief of helping the most vulnerable in society. At age 6, Mulli was abandoned by his parents and ended up an orphan trying to survive on the rough streets of Kenya. After several lonely and unimaginably difficult years, at the age of 17, he was taken in by a kind family, and over a short time he was able to make something of himself - through hard work and a belief in his own abilities, he flourished and became one of Africa's great entrepreneurs, building businesses in transportation and oil. At the age of 40, a man with a family of 8 children, he was deeply affected by the thousands of abandoned and marginalized kids and young people that he saw trying to survive on the streets of Kenya and its dangerous slums. He saw himself. One night he made a decision to stop all business an embarked on a journey to create Mully Children's Family. Mully Children's Family (MCF), founded in 1989, is a non-profit making, non-political, non-governmental, Christian rehabilitation organization for street children, orphaned, abandoned, abused, HIV & AIDS affected and infected, desperate and neglected children regardless of their religion, sex, color or tribe, who have nowhere to call home and no one to care for them. MCF seeks out, rescues and rehabilitates street children for behavior formation and transformation and provides a family environment where they can reform and get the necessary skills in order to be independent and valuable contributors to the communities and largely the country's economic development. For the last 28 years, MCF has grown to be one of the largest children's rescue, rehabilitation and development organization's not only in Kenya, but also in Africa today managing several integrated children programs comprising of: formally registered learning and training centers; sustainability agricultural projects; environmental conservation and development projects especially in relation to climate change mitigation and adaptation; and supporting community education and development initiatives. MCF has been delivering the liberating good news of hope and services to the vulnerable children and the community, setting them free from the stain and pain of their past and building self reliant, independent professionals and development facilitators, successful families as well as missionaries serving in government and different child rehabilitation ministries in Kenya. After 28 years of devoting his life to saving children and providing a safe haven for them, many of Mulli's own biological children have followed in his noble footsteps, becoming administrators and leaders helping to continue their father's charitable work and legacy of unconditional love. Charles Mulli is 68 years old. Charles Mulli is a man who refused to turn his back on the most vulnerable members of his country and in passing goodness forward. By doing so, he has inspired many with his selfless acts.
