Ross Wallace Chait is a composer, sound designer, performer, curator and writer from Los Angeles. He has composed scores for award winning television, theater, and film with clients including University of Chicago, Chapo Trap House, National Geographic, and Ferrari.
After graduating from Oberlin College with majors in Music and English, he moved back to Los Angeles and immediately took a position working with songwriter and Oscar-winning composer Randy Newman from 2013-2015. He left this position to pursue opportunities as a performer, touring extensively throughout North America, South America, Asia, and Europe. Chait continues to play, write, and record as a songwriter, singer, pianist, and drummer with his own group Total Heat and others including Girlpool, Claud, and Okkervil River.
In addition to work as a musician, Ross is an A&R Representative for ORG Music, (releasing albums by Terry Riley and Beverly Glenn-Copeland among others), a Programmer and Curator at The John & Alice Coltrane Foundation, and recently curated the Turiya Rising concert series at the Hammer Museum. He also founded the experimental music label Steady Hand Records in 2016 and is a Programmer at the LA Jazz Festival Foundation.
