Biography

Yhá Mourhia Wright is a 2025 NAACP Image Award-Nominated filmmaker from San Jose, CA. In 2016, She founded YháWright Productions launching its first original series, #LoveMyRoomie, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. As Senior Video Producer for MadameNoire, she created Listen to Black Women: Take to the Streets, In This Room, and Healthy Her.

From 2021 to 2023, Yhá Mourhia served as Programs Director for the Black TV & Film Collective, forging partnerships with Netflix, Aspire TV, Urbanworld Film Festival, and Delta Airlines. Her short film, Don't Be Desperate, starring D. Woods (For Colored Girls...), premiered on Aspire TV in 2023.

In 2023, she co-founded SoulCanvas, a creative community fostering self-expression and artistry through workshops and events. Its inaugural event was held in 2024 at Emerson College Los Angeles. In November 2024, her CBS Studios' CBS Leadership Pipeline Challenge team earned a Silver Anthem Award in the Employee Learning & Development Initiative category. Yhá Mourhia is a producer of Chocolate with Sprinkles, which won the HBO Short Film Competition at the 2024 American Black Film Festival and earned a 2025 NAACP Image Awards nomination.

This year, Yhá Mourhia returned for the third consecutive year as the Production Supervisor for Black Girls Film Camp, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating a safe space where Black girls can develop critical media literacy skills and share their stories with the world through film.

She also hosts the Inside[Out] Podcast. Her upcoming producing projects for 2025 include serving as Co-Executive Producer for Announcements, written and directed by D'Lo Louis (Creed III, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and as a producer for Purses & Floors, written and directed by Okema T. Moore (Down in the Valley, Chocolate with Sprinkles).
