- Piero Sbragia is a journalist, documentary filmmaker, PhD candidate in Arts at UFMG, and production and new formats coordinator at Placar magazine. He wrote the books "Na ilha: conversas sobre montagem cinematográfica" (2022) and "Novas Fronteiras do Documentário: Entre a Factualidade e a Ficcionalidade" (2020). He directed "República das Saúvas" (2021), best short documentary at the 6th Santos International Film Festival and nominated for the 2022 Grand Prix of Brazilian Cinema. He directed "Uma Bala" (2018), a film selected for the 29th São Paulo International Short Film Festival and the 12th Mostra de Cinema e Direitos Humanos. He directed "Em Refúgio, um documento sobre possibilidades" (2018), a project created in partnership with the UN and screened at the 1st International Meeting on Migration and Refuge. He directed "Descobrir: Os criadores de Saci" (2014), selected for the 13th Florianópolis Children's Film Festival, the Porto Alegre Children's and Youth Film Festival, and a highlight of the 15th National Saci Festival in Botucatu, São Paulo, in 2015. He was a finalist for the 2018 Music Professionals Award in the "Best Music Video Director" category. He edited the feature-length documentary "Leci" (2025), an official selection of IN-EDIT Brasil - International Music Documentary Festival. He holds a master's degree in Education, Art and History of Culture and a degree in Social Communication, with a specialization in Journalism, from Mackenzie University. He specialized in Documentary Filmmaking at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation/CPDOC (FGV-SP/CPDOC). He was the director, screenwriter, and editor of the first three seasons of the program Mistura Paulista on TV Globo (2021-2023). He also worked as a reporter and editor for Brazil's three largest television networks: Rede Globo, Rede Record, and SBT. He has collaborated on audiovisual projects for XP Educação, TV Cultura, Canal Rural, WorldSkills, TV Justiça, and Hospital das Clínicas. He was artistic director at eduK, an online learning platform that offers open-ended courses. He has been a professor since 2013, with classes taught at Mackenzie University, FATEC-SP, FAM University Center, FIAM-FAAM University Center, and the University of Santo Amaro. - At the end of 2004, Piero Sbragia co-directed and co-written a documentary about one of the main soccer rivalry in Brazil. "Vencer ou Morrer - A rivalidade entre corintianos e palmeirenses" which was a college graduation project.
- The first contact with the making of movies was during family encounters. In 2009 and 2010 Piero made two "home movies" about the Sbragia family reunions, "Sbragia - Una Saga" and "Sbragia Uniti". In 2011 he direct a 60 minutes movie to celebrate the 60th anniversary of his father, Dino Sbragia: "Dino - A Arte de Viver".
