As a child, Joseph’s parents sat him down and said, "Son, do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life." As an adult, Joseph has more Nerf guns than his seven nieces and nephews collectively and spends his days roaming the flat pretending to be John Rambo. Despite this, Joseph has managed to hold down a successful career in the creative arts and a long-term relationship.
Joseph is an award-winning author, with his debut novel, Fat Boy, winning the gold medal for Humour Fiction at the annual Foreword Indies Book Competition in 2020. The book was subsequently showcased at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Joseph was also nominated in Cork and L.A. for the young filmmaker award for his short films, GetAway and Corazón de León.
In 2023, alongside Matt Anderson, Joseph set up Kangaroo Court Productions - a creative studio specialising in theatre and film production. They are a production company created with the intention of bringing unique and exciting projects to as many people as possible. Their debut project, Shotgunned, performed to sell-out theatres during its two nationwide tours of the UK, and took the Edinburgh Fringe Festival by storm in 2024, where the show received a number of 5-star reviews and won the Bright Spark Award for emerging Scottish talent. Kangaroo Court's debut screen production, Dear Mrs. Carter, was shot over two days in January 2026 and stars Reuben Joseph as George McConnell.
