Biography

Amy James-Kelly is a British actress known for her roles as Rachel in 'Everyone Else Burns', Sarah in the 'Military Wives' movie and as Hannah in 'Three Families.' Most recently, she can be seen as MP Jennifer Bevan in season 4 of HBO's 'Industry'.

Training at The Manchester School of Acting, she's also embarked on her own filmmaking projects as director, writer and producer.

She began her career just before her 18th birthday as Maddie in 'Coronation Street'. Alongside her first professional acting role she completed her A Levels, receiving three Bs in Fine Art, Photography and Theatre Studies, with an AS Level in English Language & Literature. Spending eighteen months on one of the UK's most popular TV shows and the longest running soap opera ever, gave her further hunger to explore the industry: Making the decision to leave in 2015, she went on to play Martha in ITV's period drama 'Jericho' alongside Jessica Raine, Hans Matheson and Clarke Peters. Taking time to explore the other side of the camera, Amy took on various roles in production - both on set and off - and found a passion in screenwriting. It was with this that she created her debut short film, 'Last Summer' which was shortlisted at Manchester International Film Festival. Bringing her back onto our screens, following a brief appearance on the much-loved and long-running 'Moving On,' she portrayed the role of Jenny in Harlan Coben's Netflix original, 'Safe,' alongside Michael C Hall and Amanda Abbington. Following this she played Suzannah in 'Gentleman Jack' and the Girl in 'Girl Alone' - a short with minimal dialogue, told in reverse. For this she won two best actress awards and the film has scooped a plethora of trophies and praise at festivals internationally. Next, she made her big-screen debut as young newly-wed Sarah in the 'Military Wives' movie alongside Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan. Based on a true story, the film premiered at Toronto Film Festival and had its UK premiere in Leicester Square where the real Military Wives Choir performed. Since then she played Grace in season 2 of 'The Bay' and Hannah in 'Three Families.' The latter being a critically acclaimed two-part BBC drama about the abortion laws in Northern Ireland where the central cast represented three very real families and their stories. Embarking on her first comedy venture, Amy James-Kelly also portrayed Rachel in both series of Channel 4's hit 'Everyone Else Burns'. Between the pilot and series one of the comedy, she also shot a docu-drama for Netflix on the court of Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII. James-Kelly played Anne Boleyn - with to-camera exposition from the Queen - featuring commentary from lead historians Suzannah Lipscomb, Tracy Borman and Owen Emmerson. 'Blood, Sex and Royalty' shot in Lithuania using period properties there and was featured in Netflix's top 10.
