Ellis Kayin Chan

Ellis Kayin Chan is a Hong Kong-born animation director based in Barcelona. A graduate of Gobelins, l'école de l'image in Paris, Chan crafts emotionally resonant stories that explore memory, longing, and the invisible threads of human connection. His co-directed short film Monsoon Blue (2023) received international acclaim, winning Best Animated Short at the 60th Golden Horse Film Festival and the Gold Award at the 29th ifva Awards. His independent follow-up, Bluebird in the Wind (2024), was nominated at the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia. Beyond his personal films, Chan has worked with leading European animation studios and served as animation supervisor on Netflix's first Korean animated feature, Lost in Starlight. He has also collaborated with luxury brands including Burberry and Balenciaga on animation-driven campaigns, blending fine art sensibilities with commercial innovation.
