- Ricky Nixx was born Richard Allen Smith on June 24, 1991 in Charleston, South Carolina. Raised in Destrehan, Louisiana by his grandparents, Nixx came from an artistic, education-based background. His grandfather, Wallace, was a Marine corp veteran and high school music teacher, and his grandmother, Rosa, a schoolteacher. Upon graduating from Destrehan High School in May 2009, Nixx worked several jobs at restaurants and on film sets paying his way through college in New Orleans. In August 2010, Nixx enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed out of Pearl Harbor, HI. After being Honorably Discharged in 2013, he moved to Los Angeles, CA to continue his dreams of working in Hollywood. He Graduated from The Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, CA in September 2014. During his studies at The Los Angeles Film School, Nixx collaborated with other students to create short form content, including films, music videos, podcast and more. As a director, he is known deep involvement in the writing, directing, design, and musical components of all his work. His recurring projects include his video blog entries, film reviews, and podcast, Defiant Giant Radio.
