Danielle Rose Russell was born October 31, 1999, in New Jersey. Danielle fell in love with acting through regional theater originally, but after doing many commercials and print, she decided to pursue film and television. After doing her first film, A Walk Among the Tombstones, at the young age of thirteen, Danielle knew that acting was her passion. Shortly after completing her role opposite Liam Neeson and Dan Stevens, she booked Aloha, opposite Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone. Danielle can also be found in several other projects including Wonder, The Last Tycoon, Measure of a Man, The Originals, and Pandemic. In 2018 she portrayed Hope Mikealson in The Vampire Diaries spin off The Originals (2013) & Legacies (2018).

She admits how, as a true Italian, she has always wanted to learn "bread-making" and is impressed by her grandparents' effortless cooking.
Is 10 years younger than Phoebe Tonkin, who played her mother in The Originals (2013).
Tracing her roots to Naples, she credits her heritage not just for her love of Italian cooking, but also for the passion and emotion that inspire her acting. "It really makes me feel very close to that part of myself and to the culture," she says. "My bucket list item is to go to Italy and visit my family that lives there. To be in Italy, how much better can it get?".
She is of Italian descent.
A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) was her first debut in acting.

I always think it's really nice to see characters band together and fight for what they all believe in.
When 'Legacies' picked up, we never really saw the history between both of the twins.
What was important for 'Legacies' to actually be a successful show is that we had to introduce new mythology.
I had only ever done films that never had this huge fan base. I acted just to act. And so, coming into 'The Originals' and 'Legacies' and that fandom for the first time, I didn't know how to handle it at first, but I have a better grip on it now.
I did a lot of screaming in 'The Originals,' and I hurt my voice so badly that I said, 'I can't scream if you want me to be able to work for, like, the next three days.' So, what I usually do is that I scream once in the season, and we'll just use that scream, all throughout, or extend it, or do whatever we need to do.
