  • Carolina is a screenwriter and director based in São Paulo - Brazil.

She has written and directed two feature films and six short films selected to around 400 festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, Toronto, SXSW and San Sebastián, and has won over 100 awards.

The Orphan (2018) is the most recognized short film of her career. It premiered in The Director's Fortnight in Cannes and was also an official selection of Toronto International Film Festival. The Orphan was the winner of the Queer Palm, being the first Brazilian film to ever win this award. Tatuapé Mahal Tower (2014) represented another highlight in her career. It premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, where Carolina was nominated as one of the "five filmmakers to watch" by curator Shane Smith. After its online release, it was included among the Best of the Year of Vimeo Staff Picks in 2017.

Carolina was one of the 10 emerging filmmakers invited to be part of TIFF Talent Lab. She was also selected to be a part of Berlinale Talents and to Locarno Filmmakers Academy, where she was lauded by Indiewire in a program that showcased "Some of the World's Most Exciting New Filmmakers." In 2019, she was invited to be part of SEE Factory, in which she co-wrote and co-directed the short film Spit (2019), which screened in the opening day of the Director's Fortnight in Cannes 2019.

Carolina is co-creator of Netflix series "Nobody is Looking", winner of the International Emmy 2020.

In 2021, Carolina was invited to be a member of AMPAS, the Academy responsible for the Oscars.

Her first feature, Charcoal (2022), had its world premiere at Platform Competition at Toronto International Film Festival and its European at San Sebastián, and has received so far more than 10 awards worldwide.

Toll (2023), her second feature film, also premiered in Toronto, where Carolina received the Emerging Talent Award at TIFF Tribute Awards, among artists like Pedro Almodóvar, Spike Lee and Patricia Arquette. Toll was selected to 80 festivals and won 25 awards to this date, including Best Film in Rome International Film Festival in a jury led by Gael Garcia Bernal, Leeds Film Festival and Oostende Film Festival.

Since February 2025, a retrospective of Carolina's work has been available on Mubi Brazil, following an invitation from the platform to showcase her short and feature-length films.
