Biography

Chiara Aurelia is widely known for her starring role as ‘Jeanette Turner’ in the Freeform series Cruel Summer, for which she earned a Critics Choice Nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Her breakout performance also garnered a Best Actress nomination from the Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) and from the Women’s Image Network (WIN), with the show winning Best Cable Series in the HCA’s Drama category that same year. Cruel Summer became the highest rated new cable drama series among women ages 18-34, scoring the highest ratings of any original series in the history of the platform.

Aurelia will be seen in the dark comedy Little One starring alongside David Harbour and Gaby Hoffmann, produced by Zach Cregger and Roy Lee. She also made her directorial debut on the short film Andrew & Sally which she stars in, wrote, directed, and produced.

In June 2026 at the Tribeca Film Festival, Chiara was seen playing the titular role of Caity, which premiered in their US Narrative Competition. The film was developed with the support of Sundance’s Catalyst program, which champions, bold independent female filmmakers. Caity is a moody, coming-of-age story also starring Morgan Spector, and directed by Lindsay Calleran.

Chiara made her Broadway debut as Shelby Holcomb in the Tony-nominated play John Proctor is the Villain earning a direct offer on the strength of her acclaimed Off-Broadway debut as Georgia in Julia Randall’s Dilaria. As Georgia, Aurelia played a smart but self-aware sidekick who gradually builds the confidence to push back and realize she is being manipulated. Next Aurelia portrayed Shelby, the fiery, charismatic, and fiercely intelligent high school student who famously argues that John Proctor is the story’s true villain rather than its hero. The two productions overlapped during the summer and fall of 2025, allowing Chiara to achieve the rare feat of starring in simultaneous New York stage productions.

On screen, Aurelia is known for her dramatic role as Ani starring alongside Mila Kunis in the Netflix thriller Luckiest Girl Alive, based on the best-selling novel of the same title. She was a series regular in the beloved Peacock series Hysteria, which follows her high school heavy metal band of outcasts, who find themselves at the center of a witch hunt after mysterious events begin to unfold in their small town. Chiara also co-starred in the thriller film, Fear Street Part 2: 1978 which launched on Netflix as the second installment of their Fear Street Trilogy.

In her teens, Chiara’s depiction of ‘Young Jessie’ in the film Gerald’s Game garnered her Best Supporting Young Actress by The BaM Awards and The Young Entertainer Awards, establishing Aurelia’s ability to bring exceptional depth to emotionally demanding characters.

Aurelia was born in Taos, New Mexico and began acting in theatre at the age of four. She currently resides in New York.
