Biography

Alberto Zúñiga Rodríguez (aka, José Alberto Zúñiga Rodríguez) is a Mexican film director, producer, and academic with over 25 years of experience in the audiovisual industry. He is the founder and CEO of Sinestesia Ads Media & Films (established in 2002), operating between Mexico and Barcelona, Spain. Throughout his career, Zúñiga has directed and produced a diverse range of critically acclaimed projects. His notable filmography includes the documentaries Rupestre (2014) and En la periferia (2016), as well as the multi-award-winning feature film Emiliana Gat-alana (2023). The latter secured over six international awards and nine nominations, further cementing his reputation in the industry. For his outstanding contributions to national cinema, he is officially included in the Dictionary of Mexican Film Directors. From 2022 is based in Barcelona, where he expanded his studies with another Master's degree from Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC), Zúñiga balances his filmmaking endeavors with over two decades of experience as a university professor, teaching film production and visual cultures in both Mexico and Spain.
