Indicted in 1991 by US and British authorities for murder, conspiracy, and aviation security violations linked to the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which killed 270 people. He was acquitted of all charges after evidence showed he was in Sweden at the time of the bombing, making his participation impossible.

Al Amin Khalifah Fhimah was accused of murdering 270 people in the attack on Pan Am Flight 103 in December 1988. He was found not guilty but a second Libyan, Abdulbasset Al Megrahi, was convicted of playing a key role in the bombing of the American airliner.
