Karen 'Kaz' Anstee

Karen 'Kaz' Anstee is an award-winning writer-director, novelist and professional violinist working with leading opera, ballet and symphony orchestras, alongside backing commercial artists such as Sting, Kanye West and Goldfrapp, Originally trained at the Royal Academy of Music, and with Yuri Mazurkevich in Boston USA, she came to filmmaking via an MA at the London Film School and has since co-founded production company, Precious Hack Productions. Her film Approval Needed won the Audience Award at the IMDb Script to Screen Awards and is now used by the Be Kind Movement in their workshops for children and young adults, whilst Rachel is distributed for use in educational and therapeutic settings surrounding bereavement, philosophy and religious studies Alongside her filmmaking, Karen has also had her work adapted for BBC Radio 4 and she is developing an adaptation of her novel, When the Fat Lady Thins.
