Biography

Montgomery Fisher

Mini bio

  • As a third-generation filmmaker, the art of visual storytelling runs deep in my veins, inherited from my grandfather, Gerry Fisher BSC, and my father, Cary Fisher, both of whom were highly respected cinematographers. This rich legacy has instilled in me not just a passion for filmmaking but a profound respect for the narrative power of visual storytelling.

For over 20 years, I have dedicated myself to pushing the boundaries of what's possible with a camera, striving to stay ahead of the industry's evolution from film to digital and from bulky equipment to compact. My journey in filmmaking began at a very young age on Hollywood film sets, including movies like "Beverly Hills Cop Three" with Eddie Murphy and the famous Wells Fargo commercials, which my father Cary Fisher contributed to. These experiences seeded a deep love for filmmaking within me.

After overcoming the challenges following a family car crash in 1999, I worked my way up from the bottom in Hollywood, starting as a motorhome driver and production assistant at 18. My career took a significant turn when I moved to Los Angeles and started working at a rental house, where I became a Camera Prep Tech. The transition from working with the Red One camera to the Arri Alexa marked a pivotal moment in my career, as I progressed from a 2nd AC downloader to a first assistant and eventually to a Camera Operator.

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with many celebrities and on high octane car commercials. Although I have a passion for action, my true calling lies in films that are heartfelt and touch on the human experience. As a full active member of the Society of Camera Operators, my ambition is to transition from camera operating to directing.

In a career spanning more than two decades, my philosophy has always been to stay ahead of the curve, embracing each technological advancement as an opportunity to enhance my filmmaking and equipment expertise. My commitment to excellence, rooted in a legacy of filmmaking, drives me to continue exploring new ways to tell stories that resonate with heart and authenticity. - Montgomery "Mac" Fisher
