Biography

  • Michael Wilson-Dukes was born on April 19th 1974 in Hartlepool, County Durham, England, to Clare Wilson-Dukes (McCann), a secretary and Russell Wilson-Dukes, an engineer. His mother and father are of English descent but his maternal grandfather was of Irish descent and was raised in Trimdon Village, County Durham with his parents and brother Liam.

Michael was influenced by movies and TV from a young age and has quoted Harrison Ford and Pierce Brosnan as his inspirations to become an actor. In 1995 he made his acting debut with The Sedgefield Players starring as Martin Lockwood in Because of the Lockwoods followed by the production The Queen and I where Michael played two different roles. However, he always knew that TV and Film were his primary aim and this subsequently lead to support roles on productions such as Billy Elliott and Wire in the Blood. This advanced to small roles in TV shows such as Inspector George Gently, Vera and The Paradise.

He returned to the stage at The Gala Theatre in 2007 appearing as a police officer in the play Maggies End and as the lead role of Reverend Charles Paternoster in Shall These Bones Sing at The City Theatre in Durham in 2012. Michael has appeared in several independent feature and short films as lead actor. These projects involved working with both local and national production companies.

He recently finished work on another independent short film which will be entered into film festivals and is starring in horror feature film Orcus which is streaming on Amazon Prime and has won numerous film festival awards around the World including Best Feature and Best Horror.

Michael has trained in America working with distinguished coaches such as Howard Fine, Amy Lyndon and Dee Wallace-Stone. He has also studied with Northern Drama Acting Studio in Leeds, The Actors Forge in Newcastle and Standby Method Acting Studio in Sheffield.
