Biography

Jim Serrano is an American actor based in the Southeast U.S. market. Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to Louis and Marjorie Serrano, he grew up with a brother and sister. At age 8, Jim discovered his passion for acting when his mother, a former professional vocalist, enrolled him in his first acting class at the historic Oak Ridge Playhouse.

Jim spent his teens in suburban Maryland, occasionally stepping into a student drama production or experimenting behind the lens of a video camera borrowed from the AV Club, often preferring these creative pursuits over working on his assigned projects. Alongside his artistic interests, he was deeply involved in sports, competing as a cross-country runner and wrestler. During his senior year of high school, he was named varsity captain of both teams.

After relocating to Orlando following college, Jim's passion for acting was reignited years later during a summer marked by deep personal challenges that led him to reevaluate his life's focus. Realizing it was never too late to pursue his acting dreams, he began training in improv, voice-over, and acting for stage and screen. Jim has studied advanced auditioning and on-camera techniques with Sara Mornell, advanced acting with Rus Blackwell, the Meisner technique with Lauren O'Quinn-Burns and Yvonne Suhor, and advanced long-form improv with Lauren Morris.

Jim continues to pursue new challenges in film and television. He appears in "The Right Stuff" on Disney+, "David Makes Man" on HBO Max, and "A Lover's Vow" on Passionflix. His latest project is a lead role in the feature-length indie horror-comedy "Crocodylus: Mating Season" on Apple TV and Prime Video.

Jim recently wrapped production on the feature film "(Pickle)Ballers", which is currently awaiting a release date.

Originated the role of "Jim Reaper" in Tracey Jane's play "Jim Reaper".

In his spare time, Jim volunteers at the local hospital with his AKC-certified therapy dog, a Great Dane. He also works as a volunteer horse handler at an equine therapy center for children with neurodivergent and physical challenges.

Jim is consistently told by strangers he is a doppelganger for Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan in The Walking Dead), John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox in Scrubs), and/or Bruce Campbell (Ash in Evil Dead, Army of Darkness).
